After decades of hurling asteroids, the computer thinks it's time to switch. Now the player will throw the asteroids and the computer shoots them down. It will take the computer a little bit to learn the game but it doesn't always fight fair!

  • Strategically place the asteroids to create flight paths that the computer can't dodge.
  • Carefully balance the number of asteroids placed with the amount of rocks at your disposal. More unused rocks gives you more points at the start of every level! Once the level has started you can't throw any more asteroids until the level has ended.

Goal

  1. Don't let the computer destroy all of the asteroids
  2. Get the highest score

Scoring

You gets points for the following:

  • Making it to the next level
  • Every bullet fired by a ship
  • Not using all of your rocks at the start of a level (more rocks saved = more points!)

Controls

  • Left click to place an asteroid, hold and move mouse to aim + set size, and release to fling the asteroid
  • Space key starts each level
  • ESC key brings you back to the main menu

Mechanics

This is the nitty-gritty to answer questions about how it works. You don't need to read this section to play the game!

  • Asteroids rock price depends on the size of the asteroid. The asteroid size and speed are directly related (so small rocks are fast and large rocks are small).
  • Asteroids break into two pieces until a minimum size.
  • Ships are spawned in random positions with a little attempt to not spawn inside an asteroid.
  • A new ship is added every 5 levels. For example on levels 1-4 there's one ship, levels 5-9 there are 2 ships, etc.
  • Every level the AI is allowed to make decisions slightly faster. Mostly this just makes them shoot faster.

There is no audio because Unity hates me -- but if I was able, one of these would have been included. If you want the "full" experience open one of these and hit play on the preview.
